My vision for excellence in Sculpture and Ceramics involves a student-centered approach that utilizes a variety of learning styles. I believe in removing barriers to creativity by scaffolding learning experiences for all students. My teaching style strongly emphasizes concept based art that challenges students to go beyond their assumptions and achieve excellence, whether they are fulfilling a fine arts requirement or on a trajectory toward an MFA.
Advising:
At Sierra Nevada University I serve on BFA committees which involves meeting senior student 7 times throughout their senior year to assist them with the planning, fabrication, and installation of their work. I also advised students in the Junior Portfolio process and participated in the Junior Portfolio Art Review. I assisted students in achieving their graduate school goals by advising them in the application process and writing recommendation letters. I also assisted current and past students in acquiring scholarships, internships, and grants.
